This is how this blogging thing works for me and why I do this…
I honestly used to think that this blogging thing was going to kill me. I just didn’t get it. I could not understand the things that you needed to do, but more importantly, how it all links together, and why it all needs to link together.
It has taken me a year to figure it out. A long and painful year – but I wouldn’t change it for anything!
The more I work on them, the more I learn, and the more I read and try things, the more simpler ways I find to do things.
Why am I sharing all of this?
For the longest time I have wanted to help people, moms specifically, find a way to make money so they don’t have to struggle. Every where I went I kept hearing stories about moms who just didn’t have enough money for their child’s birthday party, school fees were so expensive, clothing was getting out of hand, car expenses, medical bills – anything and everything, you name it.
The problem in many countries, especially developing ones, is that the cost of everything is constantly rising – but your salary remains the same. If you are fortunate to get an annual increase, it usually doesn’t match inflation so you might be earning more, but it’s still not enough.
And when you are working in a 9-to-5 job, when do you find time to make more money? After a long day, getting home, cooking, homework, playing games and then bedtime stories – I know that I am finished!
Then 2018 happened. Due to ethical reasons and for my sanity, I left my job that I really enjoyed, but I had nothing to go to.
This has really pushed me from my comfort zone. I mean, having been in the travel industry for the past twenty-one years and knowing how much I would get paid at the end of each month…it’s a scary world on your own.
I am also declaring that I am a non-techie person but decided I wanted to be around for my kids more. So after a lot of searching online and reading other blogs, I decided to start blogging.
Never too old!
Why do we become negative with new things and think ‘ugh, I’m too old to learn this’? What?? I admit, I think I did skip out on that instant I-know-everything-about-technology gene, but that is not going to stop me in getting this done.
I have found a lot of information online and have taught myself – but what I realised is that there is so much high-tech stuff out there that just slows you down because you’re trying to read it…and understand it…and learn it…and apply it and then it doesn’t work and you want to throw your laptop against the wall (anyone else? nope? just me?) .
So why listen to me?
So I decided that my posts and tips and information are NOT going to be a copy of the high-tech ways to do things. My info that I will give you will be the most straight-forward way that I could find to do something. I will show you the most simple way that I could find to do things.
Don’t get me wrong – I am a work in progress and not one of these millionaire bloggers BUT I took the step and decided to start a blog with the intent to make money and show other people how to do it. I won’t lie and I won’t trick you. I will show you what works and what doesn’t – for me. It might work for you. You will never know until you try.
So this blog is my journey of what has worked for me and what hasn’t; things that were a COMPLETE waste of time and things I should have done from the beginning. I will provide you with tips and advice when things work for me and other resources I come across along them along the way.
This is what my blog includes
> I am going to show you how you can start a blog and monetise it, other ways to make money, and in time my plan is to move on to ‘momvesting’ – finding ways to invest your money and earn a passive income off this.
> I’m going to look at the home, family, holidays and DIY.
All of this has been done so that I can be with my family more and to help you be with your family more and start something creative.
So, pick what you like, leave what you don’t.
But the most important thing is, just get started on building your own blog! I would love to hear about your story – I can even share it here. Let me know what does and doesn’t work for you.
